An International Choreographer and Ballet Master

Venti Petrov is a graduate of the Sofia National Choreographic Institute in Bulgaria and a national and international award-winning ballet dancer. In New York, he continued his ballet training with Vladimir Dokoudovsky, the esteemed founder and director of the New York Conservatory of Dance and one of the greatest ballet teachers of the twentieth century.

Petrov performed across Europe and in more than 25 states throughout the U.S. as a featured dancer and permanent member of various ballet companies. He worked with renowned artists such as Suzanne Farrell (New York City Ballet) and Alexander Vetrov (Bolshoi Ballet).

In 1993, Petrov premiered his first choreographic work, Usmivka, marking the beginning of a distinguished career in ballet choreography. As a guest artist at the 2002 New York International Ballet Competition Gala at Lincoln Center, he presented and performed his original works Bach Air and Patent Pending. In addition to serving as the artistic co-director of Lumiere Ballet, he taught ballet classes at the New York Conservatory of Dance and lectured at Morningside College in Sioux City.

Petrov later premiered two fully staged original story ballets in New York City: El Cid (2011) and Dear Nadezhda (2014). He also produced eight ballet class CDs  in collaboration with pianists Michael Zeiger, Ferdy Tumakaka, Olga Merson, and Alla Milchtein, as well as two ballet class DVDs featuring principal dancer Oksana Maslova. His collaboration with photographer Ben Gancsos resulted in the published book based on Dear Nadezhda. His latest release, Venti’s Ballet Class Vol. 8, was created in collaboration with pianist Alla Milchtein.
